Will Jones has returned to WDIV following a seven-year stint at ABC 7 Chicago. He's working as a weekend anchor and reporter at the Detroit station.

Jones was a general assignment reporter at WDIV from 2012 to 2015 before heading off to the Windy City to report on issues including race and culture.

"When I first arrived in Detroit, the city was on the cusp of bankruptcy," he says in a WDIV newsletter. "When I left, the city was on the rebound. Just as I have changed, Detroit has, too, over the past seven years. I’m thankful for the opportunity to cover Detroit’s next chapter and to reintroduce myself."

In 2015, he was honored with a Michigan Emmy award for his special report on Freedom House Detroit, an organization that aids asylum-seekers.

Will, a native of Cincinnati,  has also worked at television stations in Greenville, S.C., Charleston, W.V., and his hometown of Cincinnati, Ohio.

"Growing up I remember making the drive up I-75 to Detroit from Cincinnati with my parents and siblings to visit my Uncle Butch, Aunt Marzella, and Cousin Lil’ Butch in the Rosedale Park neighborhood during the summers. Often times we would be greeted with the smell of a charcoal grill at work.

"When it came to be news time, Local 4 was always on their television."

He's a graduate of Medill School of Journalism at Northwestern University.
