Inn Season Cafe, a popular vegetarian restaurant in Royal Oak which first opened in 1981, has officially closed.
Crain's Detroit Business reports that the business and building at 500 E. 4th Street are up for sale.
The retaurant had closed during the pandemic and posted on its website "anticipate opening in summer 2023." It never reopened.
The restaurant billed itself as "the premier organic vegan/vegetarian restaurant in Michigan."
In June 2021, a sister outlet, The Inn Season Kitchen at 32867 Woodward in Royal Oak, opened. It was primarily a carryout, though it had some seats. It was supposed to offer the main restaurant's top hits.
But it paled in comparison to the main restaurant and closed in December 2022.
The owner Nicholas Raftis told the Free Press last year that the closing on Woodward was due to the high cost of labor and food and people having less to spend.
