Fox 2's morning co-anchor Amy Andrews explained Thursday that she's off the air again — this time to treat a serious medical condition.
"I am currently on physician-directed medical leave as I continue treatment for Dysautonomia, a disorder of the autonomic nervous system that affects things like heart rate, blood pressure, and circulation," she wrote on X. "For me, it can cause significant dizziness, vision changes, brain fog, and sudden drops in blood pressure, making live television unsafe until it’s properly stabilized."
"This is not a decision I’ve taken lightly. I love what I do, and I love serving this community. Right now, my focus is following my doctors’ guidance so that I can return safely and consistently."
"I miss our mornings together more than I can say. Please know I am working hard, I am not giving up, and my goal is to return as soon as I am medically able."
In July 2024, Andrews stepped away from her duties for a while to deal with mental health issues.
"Thank you so much to all of those who’ve been reaching out," she wrote on social media at the time." My severe depression and anxiety have returned in full force. I’ve stepped away from the anchor desk temporarily to battle with all I have so I can come back and spend my mornings with you. Much love always…
She came to Fox 2 in September 2011.
